Another incarnation of the portfolio page I plan to use.
I'm posting this for certain people to review and comment on but anyone is most welcome to, but do so soon since this is going into production within the next day or two at the extreme latest.
Oh, and ignore the colour swatches in the top-left!
It looks really good and has a nice color scheme, but I have a couple of suggestions/ideas for you (based on the live site found in the address bar of the image you posted):
The mouse-over effects in the main navigation section (i.e. Home, Portfolio, About, etc.) don't really fit with the rest of the design. Maybe you can incorporate that effect elsewhere. It just seems too different compared to the smooth gradients and lines used everywhere else.
The other suggestion is that the monitor image on the Portfolio page doesn't line up correctly for me in Firefox 2.0.0.3 or IE7, but that might be because I am using Vista. Basically, it looks like that image sits one pixel too low, so you notice a jump in the background pattern. I can post a screen shot if that doesn't make sense, or you aren't seeing that problem.
Yeah I haven't finished my browser compatibility work yet on it. I've not figured out why there's a difference as of yet, I think it'll just be a case of defining heights.
As for the button roll-overs, I agree it doesn't really fit and, unfortunately, I don't have the time to redesign enough of the site to make it fit. Do you have any recommendations? I might just slightly lighten the background colour.

Well, seeing as how most of your links go from being underlined to highlighted when you hover over them, I would say something more similar to that would fit the top navigation. Maybe just lighten up the background color, like you said, or change its color, but the image behind the text is just too different from what you use everywhere else. Or maybe reverse the gradient, so the darkest part is at the top and the lighter part is at the bottom. And it really isn't a huge deal, it doesn't scream out at you, so you could honestly get away with leaving it as it is.
Mind you, the version I am looking at is slightly different than the version shown in the screen shot (the Tangible Work / Digital Work headers don't exist; it is just the list of empty links), so the alignment may be fixed in the version you are looking at.
The layout was created in Photoshop. I'm in the process of chopping everything up and building it now. The tabs were the main reason I posted the study actually, but no one has commented on the main nav. when I've shown it so your input is very much appreciated!
I think I'll probably just change the colour to orange so it matches the other links. Makes more sense for people. Thanks for your input!

Good work, and keep it up!
