— Brief —
Create a logo for a emergency recovery drive.

— Reason —
I recently created a partition on one of my externals strictly for the purpose of doing maintenance and emergency recovery work on my mac, specifically my main boot volume, which you can't really do while running from it.

Afterwards I realised that there was no Apple icon for such a volume and all my other ones had job-specific icons, such as Time Machine and such.

— Software —
* Adobe Illustrator CS3 for the symbol in the centre of the icon so I could make sure it was perfectly shaped and aligned.
* Adobe Photoshop CS3 for the rest of the icon plus the composition.
* IconComposer to output the .icns file.

— Notes —
The process was simple enough. Created the symbol in Illustrator and took a default external volume icon and changed the colour to red. Then combined all the pieces in Photoshop with a bit of masking and layer styles.

The icon is Leopard ready at 512x512.

— Files In Download —
PSD, PNG, ICNS.

Very lazy using an Apple icon in your client icon.

Tiss, tiss.

Only lazy if you don't consider the fact that I am using default Apple icons for the other volumes and I wanted it to match. :P

In which case using an Apple logo as my base not only a time saver but allows them to match rather seamlessly, which, as I said, was kinda the point.

Yeah, you're probably right.

Still...I hope to see some more creativity with some more icons!

Thanks though!

Oh god, and I'm retarded!

When you meant personal client, I thought you might not to be disclosed, I didn't know you meant yourself personally! lol, oh god!

Sorry about that man, I mod icons all the time too! lol

Hahaha it's OK. Yeah I saw your collection, you've got some pretty good ones. I don't usually mod my own icons unless it's for one of my drives or for a folder, and then it's usually just to keep in key with the other icons I'm using. I've never really bothered to sit down and do a full set.
