Brief Create a logo and redesign the entire homepage of Doug Stewart Design's website. Include latest and recommended projects as well as news information. Come up with catch-phrase for DSGN.
Reason It had to be done. My current website, please don't look, is horrible. I look back at it, as many designers do to their own work, and think, "Why on Earth did I think this was a good idea?" and thus decided it was time for a redesign.
I've been working on a few ideas for a while, one of which even made as far as a logo concept in my gallery. However I lost all my data at one point and all my working files went with it so I had to start pretty much from scratch. This turned out to be a good thing as I'm quite pleased with the new direction I'm taking with this.
Software * Adobe Illustrator CS3 for logo-type tests. * Adobe Photoshop CS3 for everything else.
Notes There are some bits I'm very happy with, such as the catch-phrase, the projector screen, and the header section. I'm also rather happy with what I'm doing for latest and greatest projects. However I'm not too sure about the section titles and I have my doubts about the latest articles list.
Any comments and suggestions would be highly welcome as this is still very much a work in progress.
One thing I know will change is I'm going to put a sash like banner on the projector screen that'll say "featured" to make it a bit clearer what exactly is going to go there.
I'm allowing people to download this as I always collect good designs to use as inspiration later so I feel it's only fair I do this with my own stuff. Feel free to download it but please don't redistribute or reuse it in any way. If you have plans to please send me a message and we can work something out.
